Zelle® Payment Cancellation Eligibility:

  • Instant payments that have been sent today and payments that are already completed cannot be cancelled.  For these payments, contact the person you sent the money to and ask them to send the money back. If you aren’t able to get your money back, contact our Care Center through chat or by calling 1-800-926-0003 to see your possible recourse options.  There is no guarantee of a positive resolution and you’ll remain liable for the transaction.
  • Any future-dated payment (until the designated Send date) is able to be cancelled.  Once it’s cancelled, the funds should be returned back to your account within 2-3 business days.  A business day is Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Reserve Bank Holidays.
  • Any standard or next-day payment that is still pending can have a stop payment placed.  Choosing this option will result in a $25 fee.

 

Steps to cancel a Zelle® payment:

            This free activity is used to cancel any future-dated payments.

Within digital banking: 

  1. Select Send money with Zelle® under Move money or Payments from the bottom menu.
  2. Select the Activity tab.
  3. Find the payment you wish to cancel.
  4. Select Cancel the payment.

Steps to place a stop payment on a Zelle® payment:

This activity is used to cancel any standard or next-day payment that is still pending.  As the Zelle® payment has
been sent, you will be assessed a $25 fee for each stop payment.

Within digital banking:

  1. Select Send money with Zelle® under Move money or Payments from the bottom menu.
  2. Click on the Activity tab.
  3. Find the payment you wish to cancel.
  4. Select Stop Payment button.
